PUTNAM --- Downtown's Congregational Church of Putnam will be a jail of sorts for pastor Thomas H. Meyer beginning at 6 a.m. Sept. 2 --- all in an good-natured effort to raise money to save the church's steeple and other projects at the church. Meyer will be "locked up" in the steeple and residents are asked to donate money to "free him." He will be in the steeple until at least 5 p.m. WINY Radio will also do a live remote in an effort to break Meyer free with donations. The steeple needs heavy repairs and there are other projects at the church that need tending too. To make a donation call WINY at 928-1350 or the church at 928-4405.
