WALLINGFORD --- A love of learning and a passion for nursing are common bonds shared by this year’s recipients of Masonicare’s prestigious Norma J. Brandt Nursing Scholarship.
The Norma J. Brandt Scholarship Fund was established in 2006 through a generous gift to The Masonic Charity Foundation of Connecticut from John O. Brandt Jr. of Pomfret Center in memory of his wife, Norma, a registered nurse who loved nursing and dedicated her life to helping others. Mr. Brandt is a Mason from Putnam Lodge No. 46 in South Woodstock. The scholarship provides individuals pursuing a career as a nurse with financial assistance towards their coursework.
The six winners are: Brittany Kwalek of Wallingford, Amanda Lavoie of Meriden, Michelle Welles-Ferraro of North Haven, Madonna Layosa of Fairfield, Carolann Mora of Danbury, and Jacqueline Murillo of Middlebury.
