Harry W. Jones,
Korean war vet
Harry W. Jones, 77, was called home on Sept. 12, 2010, to his Heavenly Father. He was born Sept. 22, 1932, in Worcester, to Mary Griffin of County Down, Ireland, and Fire Captain Harry Albert Jones of Worcester. He was a communicant of St. Peters Catholic Church. He attended parochial school at St. Peters through high school. He was a valued member of the high school basketball team.
Upon graduating, he immediately entered the U.S. Navy to proudly serve his country. During the Korean War he served on the USS Oriskany aircraft carrier.
He then made the Worcester area his home and worked at the former New England Telephone and Telegraph Co. He was a gifted executive salesman and made the company a lifelong career. He was honored on numerous occasions for his achievements, including the exclusive Presidential Club Award.
Harry built a home in Paxton, Mass., where his four children were raised. Harry was involved in his community and his church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 7525.
Harry transferred to the Burlington Vt., area in 1980 and worked for AT&T until his retirement. He was a member of St. John Vianney Parish in South Burlington. He was a regular contributor to charitable causes. He was an active member of the Ethan Allen Club, BPOE 916, VFW 782, Eagle’s Club 793, American Legion and St. John’s Club.
Harry was a great cook. He loved to BBQ and entertain friends and family. Cribbage, card games and vegetable gardening were some of his hobbies. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.
Harry leaves four children: Susan LePage of Williamstown, Mass., Mark Jones of Woodstock, Kevin Jones of Douglas, Mass., and Kathleen Rumanowski of Belchertown, Mass., and their mother, Irene R. Jones of Worcester; seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by four siblings: James Gearin, John Gearin, Mary Duffy and Infant Jones.
A Mass of Christian Burial was Sept. 16, in St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church. Graveside services were Sept. 17 in St. John Cemetery, Worcester. Donations: St. John Vianney Parish, 160 Hinesburg Road, South Burlington, VT 05403. Ready Funeral and Cremation Services, Burlington.

Violet Brousseau,

PUTNAM — Violet L. Brousseau, 94, of Walnut Road, died Aug. 24, 2010. She was the wife of Raymond A. Brousseau. They were married Aug. 29, 1937,  in Peterboro, N.H. He died Jan. 24, 1998. She was born Jan. 16, 1916, in Canton, Mass., daughter of the late Irving W. and Ethel G. (Allen) Lyon.   She attended Bryant College in Providence and was a 1933 graduate of the Killingly High School in Danielson. 
They owned and operated Church Clothing Company in Putnam for over 58 years.  Violet was a long time member of the Putnam Congregational Church. She enjoyed playing Bridge, reading, gardening and traveling with her husband. 
She leaves several cousins.

Sr. Louis Ernest
Brodeur, DHS
 PUTNAM — Sr. Louis Ernest, 88, a member of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit, died on Sept. 14, 2010, at Holy Spirit Health Care Center in Putnam where she had been a patient since January of 2008. Born Léonie Brodeur on May 25, 1922, in Wauregan, the daughter of the late Arthur and Célinise (Kérouac) Brodeur, Sr. Louis entered religious life in 1938 and made her religious profession on July 1, 1943, at the Holy Spirit Provincial House in Putnam. 
Sr. Louis studied at St. Joseph Hospital in New York where she earned an LPN certificate and served in health care all of her religious life in: Fall River, Mass., Pawtucket, R.I.; Putnam, Bridgeport, Newport, R.I.; and Providence, all of this spanning a total of 64 years and most of it in district nursing.
She leaves nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grandnephews

Helen Carlson
WOODSTOCK — Helen J. Carlson, 91, of Rt. 197, died Sept. 13, 201,0 at Day Kimball Hospital, Putnam. She was born Dec. 21, 1918, in Woodstock, daughter of the late Ernest and Mathilda S. (Peterson) Peterson. Wife of the late Arthur Carlson, they were married Sept. 2, 1944, at the Evangelical Covenant Church of Woodstock. He died June 30, 1987. Helen was a Junior Observer for the local Weather Bureau. For many years she did housekeeping for local families.
She leaves her nieces Eleanor Warren and Roberta Allen of Dayville, Barbara Lappen of Manchester and Joyce Marcy of Louisville, Ky; nephew Roy Shenning of Bradenton, Fla. She  was predeceased by two sisters Eleanor Lawton and Agnes Peterson; three brothers Raymond, George and Earnest Peterson; niece Elizabeth Burke.

Leah DuBois,

PUTNAM — Leah (Landry) DuBois, 94, of Woodstock Avenue, died Sept. 14, 2010, in Regency Heights of Danielson.  She was the wife of the late Louis J. DuBois.  Born in New Market, N.H., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Amanda (Fontaine) Landry.
Mrs. DuBois co-owned DuBois Oil with her husband.  She loved working outside, gardening and crocheting.  She was a communicant of St. Mary Church of the Visitation.
Leah leaves her sister, Diane McAdams of Danielson; her good friend, Mary Long of Plainfield; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Arsene Landry; sisters, Yvonne Vezina, Alice Berti, Irene Waters, Marina Lemoine, and Anna Lagrander.

George N. Pedersen,

N. GROSVENORDALE — George N. Pedersen, 63, of Juliette Avenue, died Sept. 18, 2010, at Day Kimball Hospital, Putnam. George was the husband of Judy (Ballou) Pedersen. They were married Oct. 17, 1964.
He was born Oct. 5, 1946, in Putnam, son of the late Richard and Verna (Steere) Pedersen. George worked as a boiler maker for 35 years, retiring in 2002.
George leaves his wife Judy; daughters: Kristine Blanchard (James) of Thompson, Melissa Harmon (Shawn) of Putnam, son: Erin Pedersen of Thompson; sisters: Harriete  Montie of Dayville, Janice Dufresne (Edward) of Chepachet, Kathy Pedersen of Canterbury; grandchildren: Samantha, Brandon, Matthew, Chandler, Austin and Avery, a great-granddaughter: Sage. He was predeceased by his son, Eric Pedersen and his brother, Richard H. Pedersen Jr.

DANIELSON — Alberta Mitchell died Sept. 16, 2010, at  Regency Heights, Danielson.
She was born Oct. 3, 1923, in Ivor, Va., daughter of the late Susie Ruth Hall. She did laundry work for 50 years working in Worcester, and local laundries in Putnam and Danielson.
She leaves her son, Horance Martin Jr., of Putnam;  daughter, Lillian V. Sipes (Harrison) of Woodstock; grandsons, Raymond E. Gould Jr. (Rebecca) of Woodstock, Joseph M. Gould (Meliss) of Webster; eight great-grandchildren.

POMFRET CENTER — Carol L. Peterson Giovanni, 54, of Groton died Sept. 11, 2010, after a valiant fight with cancer. She was born Oct. 2, 1955, in Southbridge, youngest daughter of Margaret (Blackmer) Peterson and the late Wilbur Peterson who died May 6, 2003.
Carol loved her time spent vacationing at Cape Cod and Block Island. She loved being at the beach, enjoyed fine dining and had a passion for gourmet cooking. She loved music and reading and will always be remembered by friends and family for her quick wit, terrific sense of humor and her smile.
She leaves her mother Margaret Peterson of Waldoboro, Maine; sisters Barbara Riley (Andrew) of Pomfret, Beverly Sawyer (Keith) of Waldoboro; nieces Rose Marie Vecchiarelli Porter (Justin) of East Aurora, N.Y., Phoebe E. Riley of Boston; nephews C. Alexander Riley of W. Hartford and Phillip A. Riley of Pomfret; grandnieces Morgan Dodds-Porter and Emma Porter of East Aurora.

Herbert J. Brine Jr.
VERO BEACH, Fla. — Herbert Joseph Brine Jr., 61, of Vero Beach died Sept. 14, 201,0 at home. Mr. Brine was born Sept. 8, 1949, in Cambridge, Mass., and moved to Vero Beach nine months ago. He worked for the Siri Wire Company for the last nine years until his retirement.
He leaves his wife of 21 years, Debra; son, Cliff Guertin of Danielson; brothers, Gary Brine of E. Killingly, Stephen Brine of Plainfield; three grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Audrey Brine and his parents Anne and Herbert Brine. Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach.

Paul Emile Brown,

WEBSTER — Deacon Paul Emile. Brown, 67, died Sept. 16 , 2010, after an illness. Born in Worcester, the son of the late Edward E and Irene (Millette) Brown. Paul was a successful self-employed real estate professional, and was the owner of Tri-State Realty and Paul E. Brown Appraisal. Mr. Brown was ordained to the Diaconate in 1995 and served at St. Mary’s parish in Uxbridge, Mass.
He leaves his wife Gloria; daughter Carolyn Mason (Jonathan) of Woodstock; sons David (Natalie) of Cumberland, R.I., Robert (Melissa) of Hopkinton, Mass.; seven grandchildren; sister Pauline Obert (Joseph) of Worcester.
The funeral was Sept. 21 in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Webster with burial in the parish cemetery. Edward J. Thompson,
Vietnam war vet
WOODSTOCK — Edward J. Thompson, 67, formerly of Leicester, Mass., died Sept. 13, 2010, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus, after a long battle.
He leaves his wife of 46 years, Kathleen (Snay) Thompson; two children, Cheryl A. Thompson (Wendy) of Eastford, and Joseph E. Thompson (Melissa) of Woodstock; a sister, Janice Thompson of Chinle, Ariz; four grandchildren, Michael, Jonathan, Mackayla, and Joseph Jr.; and his mother-in-law, Donna M. (Wood) Clark of Leicester. He was predeceased by a brother, James Thompson. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late Arthur I. and Marie D. (Robidoux) Thompson, and lived in Leicester, Oxford, and Webster, before moving to Woodstock, seven years ago. He graduated from Leicester High School in 1961. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam war, serving in West Berlin.
Mr. Thompson and his son owned and operated JT’s Appliance in Webster and Woodstock for more than 20 years. Previously, he installed carpet and flooring.
