Kick-off
Nearly 100 community members gathered recently at Quinebaug Valley Community College to kick off the community campaign to bring a state-of-the-art YMCA to northeastern Connecticut. Honorary co-chairs UConn Huskies Basketball Coach Jim Calhoun (shown here with Campaign Co-Chair Sylvia Danenhower, left, and Program Director Christine Rivers) and his wife Pat Calhoun attended the event to help bring the new bricks and mortar Regional Community YMCA to the area. Planned features of the Regional Community YMCA will include a swimming pool, state-of-the-art health and wellness center, gymnasium, group exercise studio/multi purpose room, cycling studio, amazing kids and child watch rooms (babysitting while in the facility). The facility will serve residents from the towns of Putnam, Killingly, Eastford, Thompson, Brooklyn, Pomfret, Woodstock and Plainfield. Courtesy photo.
