DANIELSON --- Bill's Bedding & Furniture recently received word that they have been named the 2010 Connecticut Family Business of the Year Award. The North Main Street, fourth-generation family business, won in the Small Division, five to 20 employees.
The Bill's Bedding family will be honored at a ceremony on Dec. 1 at the University of Connecticut.
The UConn Family Business Program received several hundred nominations and received about 30 outstanding applications for consideration.
Bill's Bedding showed "outstanding achievements in business success, positive family/business linkage, multiple generation family involvement, care and contribution to community and industry and innovative business practices or strategies."
The program welcomed Bills Bedding to the "roster of 143 firms already honored across the state since 1995."
The Dec. 1 event will host Jim Ethier, chairman and third-generation of Bush Bros. Baked Beans, as keynote speaker.
The Bill's Bedding family members said they feel "very honored and excited" by the award and credit the many generations that came before them with setting the high standards they carry through today.
They also thank many generations of customers for helping the company win the honor.
