Art Guild

Dairy Exhibit
WOODSTOCK --- "Farmers, Cows and the Land," an exhibition about the modern history of dairy farming in Connecticut,  is on display at the Roseland Cottage carriage barn through Oct. 15, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. Free.

Puppetry Exhibit

Film
THOMPSON --- The Thompson Historical Society and Thompson Recreation are sponsoring "The Man in the Net,” at 7 p.m. at the library/community center. It was partially filmed in Thompson in 1958. Corn Maze
POMFRET --- The Pomfret Recreation Department's Corn Maze, "Mezmer Eyes," is open from noon to 6 p.m. through Oct. 30. Fright Nights are Oct. 29 and 30. The maze is near the town's recreation field off Rt. 97. Benefits the PCS 8th grade class.

Pomfret Seniors

Food Drive
WOODSTOCK --- Members of the Muddy Brook Fire Department, Woodstock Volunteer Fire Association, Bungay Fire Brigade, and the Woodstock Town Hall are conducting a Canned Food and Boot Drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 16 at the WVFA. A Boot Drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 16 and 17 at Roseland Cottage and the Woodstock Transfer Station.  Benefits low-income Woodstock residents. 

Arts, Crafts
WOODSTOCK --- The Fine Arts & Crafts Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Roseland Cottage on Rt. 169. $5 for adults; Free for Historic New England members and kids under 12. 860-928-4074.

Free Maze
KILLINGLY --- The Killingly FFA Parents & Alumni Group, along with the Killingly FFA, will host a free corn maze from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Parking will be at the Killingly Intermediate School and a hay ride will take people to the maze.  The maze is geared for children 10 and under.  They will get a coloring book to follow through the maze, and there will be face painting and pumpkin painting as well.  Free. This is a community service project from both groups.

Clean Up
WOODSTOCK --- Roseland Cottage staff and volunteers will put the formal parterre garden at Roseland Cottage to bed for the season from 10 a.m. to noon. The fall garden clean-up will include pulling up annuals and thinning perennials.   Volunteers are welcome to take the pulled and thinned plants home to brighten up their interiors during the winter or add something new to their garden bed.
