PUTNAM --- From a lot packed with cars, to emptiness, hopefully back to a lot packed with cars and a thriving business.
David L. Holke, principal of Holke Realty LLC, recently purchased the lot across the street from the now-closed Plaza Pontiac Buick.
The purchase price was not disclosed.
Holke, owner of Thompson Tractor LLC on Rt. 12, said he will be polishing up the nearly 1.8-acre parcel and they he is "hoping for a good tenant."
The property was sold in mid-October by Lloyd R. Kriss of Greenwich, R.I. and the Widl Company with an office in Guilford.
The property sits on Route 44, across the street from the former car dealership.
Holke, of Woodstock, years ago had purchased the former Chace Building Supply's original building on the Woodstock- Putnam-Thompson border on Rt. 171. He renovated the building and parking lot and sold the property. He then purchased the former National Propane building on Rt. 12 in Thompson and renovated the building and parking lot. He sells construction equipment there.
"We will definitely improve the property," he said.
