WOODSTOCK --- Three Woodstock Academy students, Jessica Mauro, a sophomore, Rachel Solomon, a junior, and Kailyn Kowolenko, a senior, have been selected for the 2011 American High School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall.  They will be a part of the Honors Choir.  Participation in the Honors Choir is limited to the highest rated high school performers from across North America. 
Mauro studies music with choral director, Amy Ranta and is a member of Hill Singers, Chorale, Tri-M Music Honor Society at Woodstock Academy.  Additionally, she has participated in CMEA Eastern Regional Music Festival, All State Music Festival, Quinebaug Valley Music Festival and All New England Choral Festival.  Solomon is also a member of Hill Singers, Chorale and the Tri-M Music Honor Society.  She has been a 2-year member of the CMEA Eastern Region Music Festival, the New England Music Festival Association Chorus and the Quinebaug Valley Music Festival. Kowolenko has participated in numerous music festivals.  She has sung in the CMEA CT All State Chorus, CMEA Eastern Region Chorus,  the New England Music Festival Association Chorus and the Quinebaug Valley Music Festival Choir.  In addition, Kailyn is a member of the Tri-M Music honor Society, Chorale and Hill Singers.
The students auditioned this fall for the Honors Performance Series and were accepted after a review by the Selection Board committee.  Acceptance to the elite group is a direct result of the talent, dedication, and achievements demonstrated in her application and audition recording.   They will join other performers from the U.S. and  Canada for a special performance at the world-famous Carnegie Hall, a venue that marks the pinnacle of musical achievement.
Finalists will come together for five days in February in NYC to have the opportunity to learn from Dr. Eph Ehly, work with other finalists. The performance is Feb. 19.
