PUTNAM --- Two services of Day Kimball Healthcare recently received donations of Target gift cards to purchase items for children. The Windham County Multidisciplinary Team’s (MDT) Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC), called “Wendy’s Place,” was recently selected by the National Children’s Alliance to receive $700 in Target gift cards from the Verizon Foundation. In addition, Day Kimball Healthcare pediatric centers also received $2,000 in gift cards from Target to purchase books for Day Kimball’s reading program.
Wendy’s Place will use the awarded gift cards to purchase essential items such as clothing and school supplies for children going into out-of-home placement. “We are extremely grateful to have the opportunity to provide families and children in Windham County school clothing, supplies and books,” said Pamela Watts, interim development director.
The Pediatric Centers will purchase books with the funds given by Target to present a book to every child that is 5 and under at his or her well-visit to encourage reading at an early age. Last year, Target also generously donated $1,000 to the pediatric centers for books as part of its effort to inspire education.
