DANIELSON — Patricia Owen, Ph.D., was named interim dean of Academic Affairs at Quinebaug Valley Community College. Owen most recently has been division director at Northwestern Connecticut Community College with 30 years of community college academic experience, having taught as an adjunct and full-time faculty as a professor of English.
QVCC President Ross Tomlin, Ph.D., said, “Dr. Owen brings to QVCC a broad and deep understanding of academic affair issues and processes in the Connecticut Community College system from both an academic administration level, as well as the faculty level.  I greatly appreciate NWCCC President Douglass’ willingness to let us borrow Dr. Owen for the remainder of the academic year.”
Owen said, “I am so pleased to be part of the QVCC community. Our faculty and staff are committed to intellectual growth and cultural enrichment for those they serve and I am proud to be associated with them. QVCC is growing, vibrant, creative and sincere, which is my kind of place!”
She will remain at QVCC through the spring 2011 semester while a search is conducted for a permanent dean of academic affairs.  The position is expected to be filled during the spring semester with a start date for the candidate during summer 2011.
