Calling all crafters
WOODSTOCK —  Woodstock Academy School Counselor Amanda Rice along with Academy faculty, staff and students are creating for a cause.  This organization, once know as Knitting for a Cause, brings together the talents of those who knit and crochet, as well as those who are enthusiastic to learn a craft, in an effort to use their talents to make a difference in the community.
The group meets from 2:30 to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays Woodstock Academy’s dining commons.  Community members are encouraged to participate even if they don’t know how to knit or crochet.  Experienced crafters are on hand to teach anyone who wants to learn and help make a difference in the community.
Members create hats, mittens, scarves and baby blankets for local women’s shelters in care of United Services in Danielson.  Hand crafted pouches where created for Dr. Cooper, a Putnam physician, for his annual medical missions trips to Honduras.  The pouches are used to distribute medications to the residents.
The group plans to expand their craft making to jewelry, scrapbooking and other items members are interested in.
