PUTNAM — With demand at non-profit organizations that help the area’s disadvantaged families at an all-time high, the need for donations of nonperishable food items, toys, and cash is pressing. Putnam Bank is stepping up to help by collecting donations to Toys for Tots and its “Food and Funds” program. For each pound of food donated at any of Putnam Bank’s branches, the bank will make a matching cash donation. Both efforts are part of Putnam Bank’s yearlong community service program, which aims to help improve the quality of life for those who live in its communities.
Donations to Toys for Tots are being collected at Putnam Bank locations in Putnam, Pomfret Center, Danielson, and Plainfield. Donations of nonperishable food items are being collected at those locations plus locations in Griswold, Gales Ferry, and Norwich. “Food and Funds” will be distributed to local non-profits that help families.
“Putnam Bank is a small, community bank, so we work hard to have a big, positive impact in our towns,” said Lynn Brodeur, senior vice president and branch administrator for Putnam Bank. “Our Toys for Tots effort and the ‘Food and Funds’ program will hopefully make this holiday season a little brighter for our neighbors who need some help.”
Other non-profit organizations that have recently benefited from the bank’s community service program include Habitat for Humanity, The Last Green Valley, and National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
