PUTNAM --- With the loss of Katelyn Tarr, Kate Montgomery and Britt Bousquet to graduation, the Putnam High School girls' varsity basketball team is looking at some "talented newcomers that will have to develop into a competitive team."
Head coach Willie Bousquet added the team will need "to develop the offense from different players considering the loss of leading scorer Katelyn Tarr."
Tarr was a standout forward, as was Bousquet. Montgomery played center.
Putnam's overall record last year was 15 wins and eight losses and they walked away with the champion's crown in the ECC S Division. They won in their first round in the state tournament.
Returning players this year include: Seniors Regan Guillot at guard; Erin Konicki at guard; and Molly Mackenzie at forward. Rounding out the returning players is junior Christie Austin at center.
Newcomers include: Seniors Stephanie Baumuller and Katherine Lamoureux, juniors Holly Desrosiers and Megan Heaney, and sophomores Monica Phongsa, Ashley Espinosa and Abby Allard. Bousquet, in his ninth year as coach,  said, "The team returns experience at the guard positions."
