PUTNAM --- Although some of the Bonding Commission votes were questioned, the office of State Senator Donald Williams believes that the three Putnam grant projects  approved will be good to go.
Town Administrator Douglas M. Cutler said some of the Bonding Commission's votes were questioned Dec. 10 because some projects require a six-member OK vote and they garnered five votes. But he does not believe any of the three grants connectetd with Putnam were among those questionable votes.
Putnam is in line to receive three grants: $400,000 to the town of Putnam to renovate the 88 Main building in the middle of downtown; $3.745 million to the Greater Hartford YMCA for the proposal Regional YMCA with indoor pool to be located in the proposed high tech industrial park off Kennedy Drive and I-395; and $508,421 to the town for the remediation and demolition of the arson-scarred former Putnam Foundry property off Rt. 12. Cutler said it generally takes about 30 days to get agreements in place after grant awards. He hopes that the demolishion/remediation of the former Putnam Foundry property might begin at the end of February, beginning of March.
