PUTNAM --- The warmth piled in, pajama set by pajama set, slipper by slipper throughout the month and in the end, the Citizens National Bank donated a record  amount of pajamas and slippers to kids who go to sleep cold.
The pajama effort will help kids in Brooklyn, Thompson, Putnam, Killingly and Woodstock stay warm this winter, according to Senior Vice President Paul Grenier.
This was the second time the bank held a pajama event. In 2008, the bank pulled in 769 sets of pajamas and 415 pairs of slippers. Cash donations also rolled in in 2008 and were used to buy pajamas, hitting that final number.
A food drive was held in 2009 and bank officials heard that the pajama drive would be welcomed back this year.
This year from pajama donations, slipper donations and cash donations, the bank was able to deliver to those serving those in need 775 pairs of pajamas and 95 pairs of slippers. This year, the bank raised more than $1,500 and that money was used to help boost the number of pajamas.
"We'd like to thank our community for their generosity," said David Conrad, Citizens National Bank president.
