Mustangs
fall short in
Doc Hurley
Classic
By Joe West
PUTNAM --- The Mustangs of Putnam Science Academy traveled to the Doc Hurley Field House last week in the Doc Hurley Scholarship Classic at Weaver High School.
The Mustangs faced off against the Robinson School from New Jersey in the featured game.

The Robinson school is a basketball power and came into the game with six  players already signed to move on next year at the Division 1 level.
However, the Mustangs came in very confident and battled for 40 minutes but came up short at the end 91-86. Mustangs (5-2) were leading with 3 minutes left but fatigue and a poor shooting night at the free throw line, only making 10 of 19 in the game, cost the Mustangs a huge upset.
Desmond Williams led PSA with 34 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.
Zaquan Nelson also had a big night with 25 points and 5 assists.
“Tonight was like playing a Division 1 team,” said PSA coach Tom Espinosa after the game. “We battled but you need to knock down free throws in key situations.”
