When Operation Fuel announced last week that it had exhausted its funds for its winter fuel program, TEEG jumped into action.
Through  March 4, all community donations received by TEEG, a community-centered nonprofit human services agency serving northeast Connecticut, will go directly to Client Fuel Assistance.
Operation Fuel is a nonprofit agency that provides financial assistance to residents of Connecticut who may have no other option to cover their energy costs. The Winter Fuel program, which usually runs until March 31, serves between 40-50 families in Thompson, Woodstock, Pomfret and Putnam. TEEG administers Operation Fuel programs for residents in all four towns. TEEG’s Client Fuel Assistance is a private program that uses directed donations to provide an additional safety net to help neighbors in need. Private fuel support is provided by TEEG to income eligible families in the towns of Thompson, Woodstock and Pomfret. Private fuel support in Putnam is administered by Daily Bread.
“TEEG is committed to finding the resources to offer assistance to those who qualify,” said Donna Grant, TEEG executive director.
“We are asking the community to help us to keep our neighbors warm this winter.”
All funds donated by March 4 will be designated for Client Fuel Assistance.
These funds will be used solely to pay vendor bills for heating the homes of residents in the towns served by TEEG.
If preferred, donors can specify the town they would like their funds to go to. Woodstock residents can drop off donations for the Woodstock Fuel Fund at the Woodstock to hall.
All contributions, which are tax deductible as TEEG is a 501c3 charitable organization, can be mailed or dropped off at TEEG, P.O. Box 664, 65 Main St., N. Grosvenordale, CT 06255.
