Merle H. Collins,
Army vet
PUTNAM — Merle H. “Sonny” Collins, 72, of Putnam died Oct. 10, 2012, at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich. He was born Jan. 30, 1940, in Newport, Vt., son of the late Merle and Virginia (Hill) Collins. He was the husband of Rosemary (Marney) Collins; they married on April 27, 1985. Mr. Collins served in the U.S. Army and had been employed at Frito Lay in Dayville for 27 years.
Besides his wife he leaves his children, Timothy Collins of Vermont, Michael Collins (Rebecca) of Canterbury, Patrick Collins (Kim) of Brooklyn; daughter-in-law Karen Collins; two brothers, Oliver Collins of Irasburg, Vt., and Robert Collins of Lowell, Vt., 13 grandchildren, four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sons Richard and Ronald Collins.
A Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. Oct. 17 in Tillinghast Funeral Home, 433 Main St., Danielson. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Dayville. A Calling Hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Oct. 17 at the funeral home. Donations: The William W. Backus Hospital, Critical Care Unit, 326 Washington Street, Norwich, CT 06360.
Lewis W. Ives II
EASTFORD — Lewis William Ives II, 70, of Eastford, formerly of Willimantic, husband of Elaine (Fafard) Ives, died Oct. 6, 2012, in Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam.
He was born May 6, 1942.
He earned his master’s degree at Eastern Connecticut State University. Lewis was the owner and innovator of Ives Brothers Ice and Oil. He served his country both in the U. S. Air Force and by performing many civic duties in his community. Lewis was also a teacher in the Montville Public School system.
Besides his wife, he leaves daughters, Marie and Jennifer; a son, Lewis; grandson, Josef; brothers, Truman and Robert; son-in-law, Matthew and family friend, Danny. He was predeceased by his parents, Blanche and Truman; brother, George; sister, Irene; godparents, Gilda and George.
The Funeral Mass was Oct. 12 at St. Joseph Church, Willimantic, with burial with full military honors in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. Bacon Funeral Home, Willimantic.
Sarah Bonner
PUTNAM — Sarah Bonner, 95, of Railroad Street, died Oct. 14, 2012, at Day Kimball Hospital after a short illness. She was the wife of the late William Bonner. He died in 1977.
She was born Sept. 27, 1917, in Providence, daughter of the late John and Marion (Buffum) Hargraves. Sarah had made her home in Putnam most of her life. She enjoyed cooking and cleaning. Her family always came first.
She leaves her children: Frances Fredette of Killingly, Richard Lavalle of Pascoag, Charles Lavalle of Pennsylvania, Mary Sevigny of Brooklyn, William Bonner of Ballouville, Robert Bonner of Maine, Karen Ballou of Connecticut, Russell Bonner of Ballouville; two sisters; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her children Gloria, Robert, Kathy, Bruce and Patricia.
Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 19 at Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam. Burial will be private in Grove Street Cemetery, Putnam.
Annastasia
Delano-Ohlund
MOODUS — Annastasia, “Anna,” “Stacey” Delano-Ohlund, 36, of Moodus and formerly of Columbia, died Oct. 7, 2012, of breast cancer.
Born June 5, 1976, in Manchester, she was the daughter of her father, Steven Ohlund and his wife Patricia Ohlund of Lebanon and her mother, Kathleen Jenkins and her husband William Jenkins of Chaplin. She graduated in 1994 from Lyman Memorial High School. After school, she and her mother worked together as the chefs at Caprilands Herb Farm in Coventry for the world renowned herbalist, Adelma Grenier Simmons. After Simmons’ death she pursued her other passion, gardening, at Logee’s Plants in Danielson and later at Ballek’s Garden Center in E. Haddam. Finally, she brought her knowledge and love of cooking to The Cooking Company in Killingworth where she continued her career as a chef. She will be remembered by those who loved her as an avid gardener, a woman who loved nature and art.
She leaves her parents; son, Liam; companion, Bruce J. Dutch of Moodus; brother Luke Ohlund of Coventry; sisters Emma Ohlund of Middletown and Leah Ohlund of Meriden; all of the Dutch family.

Mary Pawelczyk
WEBSTER — Mary T. (Kloss) Pawelczyk, 85, died Oct. 9, 2012, at Lanessa Extended Care Facility.
Her husband, Joseph S. Pawelczyk died in 1985.
Mary was born in Webster, daughter of the late John and Cornelia (Bowen) Kloss and lived in Webster all her life. She was a retired inspector, having worked many years at Webster Lens.
She leaves her son, Joseph J. Pawelczyk and his wife Patricia of Woodstock. She was predeceased by her daughter, Karen C. Pawelczyk of Webster; and by a sister, Elizabeth Regan of Webster.
The Funeral was Oct. 11 in St. Louis Church, Webster. Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, Webster.
Agnita Prout
DUDLEY — Agnita (Petrin) Prout, 94, formerly of Granite Street, died Oct. 12, 2012, in Webster Manor after an illness. Her husband of 50 years, William J.Prout, died in 1992
She was born in Webster, daughter of the late George and Amanda (Carreau) Petrin and lived here all her life .She worked many years at the former Cranston Print. Mrs. Prout was a member of Sacred Heart Of Jesus Church.
She leaves one son: William J. Prout (Linda) of Webster; three granddaughters, Rebecca Towle (Wesley) of N. Grosvenordale, Kristine Desmaris (Scott) of Webster and Angela Prout of New York; five great-grandchildren Hunter, Brody, Mackenna, Camden and Julianna.

Elizabeth Steben
PUTNAM — Elizabeth (Mittman) Steben, 54, died Oct. 9, 2012, at UMass Memorial Health Care Center – University Campus, Worcester.
She was born in Webster, daughter of the late Albert Mittman, and lived in Putnam for several years.
She leaves her son, Joseph Steben of Putnam; her mother, Patricia (Collins) Mittman of Webster; a brother, Norman Mittman of Maine; a sister, Linda Johnson of California; three grandchildren. Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, Webster.
