to help area
PUTNAM — The Quiet Corner Democrats recently raised more than $3,200 which was donated to multiple agencies in the area: The Covenant Soup Kitchen in Willimantic, Hockanum Valley Community Council Food Pantry in Vernon, the Thompson Ecumenical Empowerment Group in Thompson and to Interfaith Human Services of Putnam (IHSP) – Daily Bread.
Daily Bread received $809 and will also receive a $250 check from BCS Company, Inc. of Thompson.
Daily Bread has a client base of nearly 800, seeing approximately 250 families on a monthly basis. Many clients are working parents on a limited budget.
State Representative Daniel S. Rovero (51st Assembly District – Killingly, Plainfield and Thompson) said, “I don’t think people out there realize how many needy people there are.”
Daily Bread recently celebrated its 30th anniversary of continued service to the community.
If you are a resident of Putnam, Pomfret or Woodstock, IHSP offers many programs and services including the Daily Bread food pantry, emergency fuel assistance, a diaper bank, and more.
Monetary donations, disposable diapers, gently used clothing, blankets, and non-perishable food items are always greatly appreciated.
We are now able to accept online donations via Paypal. Go to www.nectinterfaith.org or call 928-0169.
