PUTNAM — The Putnam Police Department last week referred five juveniles on charges connected with a commercial burglary last July.
After an alarm at (Sumo Distributors) Rent-A-Center in Riverfront Commons plaza July 7 the Putnam Police Department found the front door to the business had been smashed out by blunt force. The business had been burglarized and approximately $11,000 in merchandise was stolen.
Putnam Police Chief Chris Ferace said a lengthy follow-up investigation conducted by Detective Hailey Griffin lead to the arrest of the five juvenile suspects, three whom were Putnam residents, one a Woodstock resident, and one a Willimantic resident.
All five were referred to the Court of Juvenile Matters in Willimantic. Charges are: third-degree burglary, second-degree larceny and second-degree criminal mischief.
