Putnam Police Dept.hires a new officer
PUTNAM — Bringing the Putnam Police Department to its fully authorized strength of 17, the department announced the hiring of its newest officer,  Zachary C. Capron. He was sworn in Feb. 10.
Police Chief Chris Ferace said Officer Capron is a POSTC-certified officer from the Mashantucket Tribal Police Department with two years’ experience. He is a graduate of the Eastern Region Police Academy Session #1 and holds a bachelor’s degree in criminology from Eastern CT State University. He is a Dayville, resident and formerly worked at Day Kimball Hospital as a Public Safety Officer. Officer Capron is engaged to marry in June to his fiancée, Mariah.
Officer Capron will undergo several weeks of Operational and Field Orientation training at the Police Department. Then he will be assigned to the department’s patrol division.
