Named assistant principal
PUTNAM — The Putnam Board of Education this week appointed Keri O’Neill as elementary assistant principal at Putnam Elementary School.
Superintendent Steven Rioux said O’Neill brings 17 years of dedicated service to Putnam Public Schools, having begun her career in kindergarten special education before transitioning to integrated Pre-K in 2012. Throughout her tenure, she has served in multiple teacher leadership roles in the district.
“Keri is a natural leader who consistently prioritizes what is best for students,” said Rioux. “She has the skills and disposition to help PES continue to grow and support our families.”
O’Neill recently completed her Sixth-Year program in Educational Leadership at Quinnipiac University, earning her CT 092 Certification. She holds a master’s degree in special education with a concentration in positive behavioral interventions and supports from UConn and has completed UConn’s UCEDD Aspiring Leaders in Special Education program. O’Neill earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology with a concentration on childhood and youth from Eastern Connecticut State University, where she also completed her Connecticut teaching certification requirements.
O’Neill’s deep understanding of the district’s culture, established relationships with families and staff, and proven track record of supporting both students and colleagues make her an ideal fit for the role, Rioux added.
