Art Exhibit

Fun Runs

Circle of Fun
PUTNAM --- The 41st St. Mary Parish Circle of Fun is coming Sept. 13-16 at the church on Providence Street. Included in the festivities are a big Flea Market, with an early-bird special planned for Sept. 13. Entertainment includes “One Shot Deal” Friday night, Quest Martial Arts and “Synergy” Saturday, Gary O (WINY) and Paige and Ness Sunday.  Also included are food and beverages, game booths, Bingo and rides for all ages, the “Circle of Fun” moon bounce and ball pit, a bake sale, basket drawings (the drawing is at 6 p.m. Sept. 16). Free, rain or shine.

Regatta
N. GROSVENORDALE --- The Knights of Columbus Council 2087 will hold the first annual French River Frog Regatta at 2 p.m. at Riverside Park. The frogs are $5 and may be purchased at the Knights Hall, at St. Joseph School on Main Street, and by contacting any member of the Council 2087. 923-2967.

Yard Sale
N. GROSVENORDALE --- The Knights of Columbus Council 2087 will hold a yard and craft sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 15 and from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 16 in the Knights banquet hall. Vendors wanted. 923-2967.

Book Sale
N. GROSVENORDALE --- The Friends of the Thompson Public Library will hold a book and tag sale from 9 a.m. to noon at the Thompson Library/Community Center.

Old Home Day
CANTERBURY --- The Canterbury Historical Society will host Old Home Day  from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine. Live music, demonstrations of traditional crafts and trades, re-enactors, food, local products, children's activities, animals, free vintage car rides, more. Visit the restored 19th-century one-room Green District Schoolhouse, complete with displays and old photos. Free. All welcome.

Run Fund-raiser

Homecoming, Picnic
THOMPSON --- The Thompson Congregational Church at routes 200 and 193, will hold an old-fashioned homecoming and church picnic starting at 10 a.m. Dressing in period costumes (late 1800s “Little House on the Prairie”). Register for new Rotational model Sunday School workshops, food, games. All welcome.

Bark for Life
BROOKLYN --- The annual Relay For Life event, "Bark for Life," will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the fairgrounds. Citizens National Bank is the Corporate Sponsor. Pre-Registration is $10 (one person, one dog) and available until Sept. 13. The first 100 registered participants will receive a Bark for Life bandana and doggie bag full of goodies. You can also register the day of the event. From Sept. 14 through the day of the event registration is $15 (one person, one dog). For those attending without a dog, it's $5 and children 12 and younger are admitted free.

Rummage Sale
WOODSTOCK --- The Women’s Fellowship of the First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ of Woodstock, on Rt. 169, will sponsor a Fall Rummage & White Elephant Sale from 2 to 5 p.m. Sept. 21 and from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 22 at the church.  The Junior Youth Fellowship will sponsor a Bake Sale Friday afternoon. Coast Guard Band
POMFRET --- The 300th anniversary of the town of Pomfret will feature a free U.S. Coast Guard Dixieland Jazz Band concert at 3 p.m. at Hyde School Auditorium. Free, but bring a packaged food item to donate to a local food bank.  Tickets at Town Hall.

Swedish Meatballs
N. GROSVENORDALE --- The Emanuel Lutheran Church on Main Street will present a Swedish Meatball Supper from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the church. $10 for adults; $5 for kids under 12. Family style. Takeout available.

Invitational
PUTNAM --- The 13th Annual Clipper Invitational Marching Band Festival fund-raiser will be held at 6 p.m. at the St. Marie Greenhalgh Sports Complex. Gates open at 5. Admission is $8; free for kids age 10 and younger. Rain or shine.

Positively Pomfret Day
POMFRET --- The annual Positively Pomfret Day, which includes, fun, games, food and information, will be held at the Pomfret Recreation Park.

Turkey Dinner

Fund-raiser Car Wash
DANIELSON --- The Danielson Rotary Club will present Clean Cars for Clean Water fund-raiser from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at NAPA/PAP Auto on Rt. 6, Brooklyn. Donations accepted for Rotary International Foundation's “Clean Water Projects in Guatamala” $10 per car. Rain date: Sept. 29.
