POMFRET --- "A Taste for NOW, A Taste for Life," a fund-raiser for the Northeast Opportunities for Wellness, Inc. (NOW), will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Elsinore Mansion.
"A Taste for NOW, A Taste for Life” is a beer, wine, and gourmet food tasting event aimed at raising funds for NOW (Northeast Opportunities for Wellness, Inc.) and for “now” (today) that will provide life-changing opportunities “for life” for underprivileged children of northeastern Connecticut, specifically in the areas of sports, fitness, and nutrition. Many families do not have the resources to obtain necessary training, coaching or education for their children today. For many children, NOW’s ability to offer scholarships covering up to 95 percent of the cost of training and education provides the best and only opportunity for these children to be exposed to different sports as well as the concept of “wellness.” Last year NOW, in only its first year as an organization, served over 600 children with almost 60 percent of those receiving some level of scholarship.
