Roxane Acquarulo
PUTNAM — Roxane “Rocky” Acquarulo, 31, of Pomfret Street, died Sept. 22, 2012, at Day Kimball Hospital after a battle with colon cancer. She was the wife of Anthony L. Acquarulo.
She was born Dec. 18, 1980, in Putnam, daughter of Rene and Donna (Dashnaw) Deloge Jr. of Putnam. She was a graduate of the Killingly High School Class 1999. Roxane was active with the NECT Relay For Life.
She leaves, in addition to her husband Anthony, father and mother Rene and Donna, her daughters Alexandrai Lawson, Savannah Acquarulo, both of Putnam; brothers Stan Dashnaw, Jeremy Deloge (Ashley), all of Putnam; mother in law and father in law Anita and Stuart Caskinett of Rogers; grandfather Rene Deloge Sr. of Plainfield; Grampy Bob Burnham of Rogers; brother-in-law Joey Acquarulo (Beth) of Rogers; sister-in-law Brandy Perez (Jake), all of Rogers, She was predeceased by her son Dylan Thomas Acquarulo in 2002.
A gathering will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Gaudreau’s Function Center (formerly St. Ignatius Church), 21 Williamsville Road, Rogers, with a memorial service at 6 p.m. Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam.
Joao M. Lameira
DANIELSON — Joao M. Lameira, 88, of School Street, died Sept. 19, 2012, at his son’s home in Danielson after an illness. He was the husband of Idalia (Domingos) Lameira, they were married in 1950 in St. DaGraca Church in Portugal. She died Jan. 22, 1996.
He was born Jan. 18, 1924, in Brunheiras, Vila Nova de Milfontes, Portugal, son of the late Joao Bastista and Maria Luisa Lameira.
He worked and lived on the family farm in Portugal.
In 1973, he moved with his wife and family to the U.S., settling in Danielson.
He worked as a card tender at the White Cross Inc. in Dayville for 13 years. He served in the Portuguese Army during WWII as a surgical nurse. He enjoyed gardening, raising plants and vegetables, fishing and his greatest love was spending time with his grandchildren.
He leaves his son Manuel Lameira (Pamela) of Danielson; grandchildren, Linda Lameira and Miguel Lameira; great-grandchildren, Blake Briere, Brianna Briere, Trent Briere; brothers Francisco; Alxandre; sisters, Alzenda, Fernanda, Mandelal.
The Mass of Christian Burial was Sept. 24 at St. James Church, Danielson, with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson. Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds St., Danielson.
Priscilla Savoie
DANIELSON — Priscilla J. (Lavallee) Savoie, 70 of Mashentuck Road, died Sept. 19, 2012. She was the wife of Donald Savoie. They were married July 2, 1960.
She was born April 25, 1942, daughter of the late Alphonse and Eliza (Warrender) Lavallee. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens and fishing in the ocean.
She leaves her husband Donald; five daughters Donna LaPorte of Plainfield; Cheryl Mayo of Thompson; Sandra Goyette of Putnam; Michelle Levesque of Dayville; Lynn Estabrooks of Moosup; three sons-in-law Bob Mayo, TJ Goyette and Corey Estabrooks; four sisters; nine grandchildren four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Gary Andrew Savoie in 1961.
There will be a private memorial service at a later date. Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds St., Danielson.
Dorina Foden
PUTNAM — Dorina G. (Flagg) Foden, 87, died Sept. 21, 2012, at home.
Her husband of 61 years, Finley Foden, died in 2006.
Dorina was a homemaker for most of her life. She enjoyed being with children, grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She loved to sew, knit, crafts, drawing and making braided rugs.
She leaves two sisters, Jackie Croteau of Woodstock and Germaine Beck of California; her children, Ronald Hade (Barbara) of Charlton, Darleen Morway (Thomas) of Putnam, Kim Blaney of Putnam; grandchildren Troy Bernard, Nathan Hade, Heather Hade, Josh Hade, Jamie Anderson, Michael Heidelberger, Lauren Heidelberger and Kiersten Heidelberger; great-grandchildren, Kennedy Bernard, Emerson Bernard, Conor Leonard, Brenden Womack, Thomas Anderson, and twins, Christopher and Evan Anderson. She was predeceased by her siblings, Louis Flagg, Richard Flagg, Donald Flagg, Gerald Flagg, Gertrude Paquette, Dorothy Maheu, Juliette M. Kruzel.

Edward Bembenek Jr.,
Vietnam war vet
WEBSTER — Edward J. “Joe” Bembenek Jr., 69, of Webster, died Sept. 13, 2012, after an illness.
He was born and raised in St. Albans, W.Va., the oldest of the seven children of Edward J. Bembenek Sr. and Eileen (DeVore) Bembenek. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam war. Mr. Bembenek was a supervisor at Sanitary Dash Company for 35 years. He then worked at Central Supply in Worcester for five years, retiring in 2007. He loved fishing and hunting.
He leaves his wife of 46 years, Barbara A. (Placzek) Bembenek; a daughter, Debra Ann Thomas of Webster; twin grandchildren, Anthony Scott Thomas and Sophie Ann Thomas; a brother, Robert Bembenek of Webster; three sisters, Joanne Brezniak of Blackstone Valley, Linda Klys of Webster and Jeanne Loos of Columbus, Ohio; his special cousins, Ronald, Agnes and Chad Coporale. He was predeceased by two brothers, Thomas Bembenek and John Bembenek. Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, Webster.
William J. Collins,
captain (ret.)
DUDLEY — Retired Captain William J. Collins (USA), 92, of Dudley, died Sept. 9, 2012, at home. His wife of 68 years, Sadie C. (Paholski) Collins, died Oct. 24, 2011.
He was born in Webster and raised in Dudley, a son of Edward M. Collins Sr. and Stasia C. (Moronczyk) Collins. He graduated from St. Louis High School in Webster in 1938, where he played varsity basketball and baseball and was a member of the debating team.
He was an Army veteran of WWII, serving as a captain. He graduated from Officers Candidate School, was an infantry commander and fought at Utah Beach, Normandy, France. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, the American Theater Ribbon, the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, the American Defense Ribbon, the WWII Victory Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge. He was wounded in France on July 11, 1944.
Mr. Collins was a stationary engineer at Cranston Print Works Company in Webster, at Draper Corp. in Hopedale, at the American Optical Company in Southbridge and at UMass Medical Center in Worcester, retiring in 1982.
He was a member of St. Louis Church in Webster, the Webster-Dudley American Legion Post #184, the Disabled American Veterans, the Worcester County Retired Officers Association, and had been a member of the former Dudley Veterans. He served on the Dudley Board of Assessors for 27 years. He was a former member of the Dudley Democratic Committee and was an original member of the Dudley Charter Commission.
He leaves three daughters, Nancy J. Roy of Dudley, Carol A. Collins of Niwot, Colo., and Kathleen D. Puliafico (Mark C.) of Woodstock; seven grandchildren, Kimberly Roy Fryer (Jeffrey), Scott W. Roy, Jeffrey J. Roy (Sandy), Angela Puliafico Biondi (Scott), Maura Puliafico Drake (David), Lindsay Puliafico Frazier (Casey), and Alicia Puliafico; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward M. Collins Jr. of Webster; three sisters, Teresa Dumouchel and Joan “Betty” Dumouchel, both of Dudley, and Stasia “Barbara “ Menard of N. Grosvenordale. He was predeceased by his brother Francis A. Collins; sister Rita C. Collins.
The Funeral Mass was Sept. 14 in St. Louis Church, Webster, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Dudley, with military honors. Scanlon Funeral Service, Webster.
John F. Przybylek,
WWII
WEBSTER — John F. Przybylek, 93, died Sept. 15, 2012, at Autumn Village in Worcester.
John was born in Webster, son of the late Thaddeus and Mary (Niemiec) Przybylek and lived in Webster all his life. He was a retired machinist, having worked many years at Coppus Engineering in Worcester.
John was a WWII, U.S. Army veteran and served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations, Guadal Canal and the Northern Solomons. During his service, John was awarded the Purple Heart for his injuries sustained on July 2, 1944. Additionally, he was awarded the Silver Star on July 22, 1944, and the Bronze Star, which was awarded on Sept. 13, 1985, for meritorious achievement in ground combat against the armed enemy during WWII in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations.
He was a member of the American Legion, P.A.V., P.A.C.C., Booster AC, D.A.V., V.F.W., and was a long time member of the Webster-Dudley Veterans Council. Along with his fellow veterans, John provided military honors at many veteran funerals.
His wife of 62 years, Anna T. (Gawron) Przybylek died Feb. 15, 2011. He leaves four sons, Francis Przybylek of Marietta, Ga., Richard Przybylek of Seabeck, Wash., Joseph Przybylek of Thompson, and Thaddeus Przybylek of San Diego, Calif.; one brother, Chester Przybylek of Webster; one sister, Anna Jankot of Putnam; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A military funeral was Sept. 19 from Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, Webster, with a Mass in St. Joseph Basilica, Webster. Burial was in St. Joseph Garden of Peace Cemetery, Webster.
