Andrew Ducharme,
war veteran
N. GROSVENORDALE — Andrew “Andy” Ducharme, 83, formerly of Riverside Drive, died Nov. 22, 2012, in Matulaitis Nursing Home. He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Anita (Langlois) Ducharme. Born in 1928 in N. Grosvenordale, he was the son of the late Joseph and Armenie (Daviau) Ducharme.
Mr. Ducharme was a 1947 graduate of Tourtellotte Memorial High School in N. Grosvenordale and played on the basketball team where he helped lead his team to a state Tournament. He was a U.S. States Army veteran who fought in the Korean conflict. He continued his military career as a sergeant in the National Guard.
During this service, he was called upon and worked during the Flood of 1955. He was a milk man,
bread man, and manager of Deary Brothers Restaurant in Putnam for 13 years. He loved his family.
He was an avid Celtics and Red Sox fan, and greatly enjoyed the UConn girls’ basketball team along with singing and whistling. His had a happy personality and loving spirit.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his son, David A. Ducharme of N. Grosvenordale; his daughters, Andrea J. Ducharme, and Laura L. (Ducharme) Santos (Daniel); grandchildren, Angela Szeredy (Davis), Kyle Santos, Darcy (Santos) Laprade, and his great-grandchildren, Juliana Szeredy, and Mckenna and Hadley Laprade. He was predeceased by five brothers, and three sisters.
The Mass of Christian Burial was Nov. 26 in St. Joseph Church, N. Grosvenordale, with burial later in W. Thompson Cemetery. Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., N. Grosvenordale.
Marie Claire
Desautels
N. GROSVENORDALE — Marie Claire Desautels, 96, formerly of N. Grosvenordale, died Nov. 21, 2012, in Brooklyn. She was the wife of the late Alpherie “Alfred” Desautels. Born in 1916 in N. Grosvenordale, she was the daughter of the late Alphonse and Eugenie (Noiseux) Pion.
Marie Claire worked as a spinner for Cluett Peabody and the Baltic Mills. She also worked for Bates Shoe and for Duffy’s Catering.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church. She enjoyed gardening.
She was the sister of the late Maurice Pion, Rita Pion and Theresa Goloski.
The Mass of Christian Burial was Nov. 24 in St. Joseph Church, N. Grosvenordale, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.

William Kuchy Sr.,
WWII vet
BROOKLYN — William J. Kuchy Sr., 92, of Brooklyn, died Nov. 19, 2012. He was the husband of the late Blanche (Senkewitcz) Kuchy. They were married in 1943. She died June 1, 2001.
He was born Nov. 12, 1920, in Canterbury, son of the late Alex and Mary (Fedock) Kuchy. He held master license’s in plumbing, heating, piping and electrical. He was the owner and operator of Kuchy Construction. He started the business in 1947 and built over 1,000 homes in the area. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and most of all traveling with his wife.
He was a member of the Danielson Elks Lodge and the Snake Meadow Club. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Army.
He leaves his children: William Kuchy Jr., Ronald Kuchy, Gary Kuchy, all of Brooklyn, and Barbara Coutu of Holiday, Fla.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his siblings: John Kuchy, Andrew Kuchy, Michael Kuchy, Helen Adams, Catherine Dougherty and Ann Boligan.
The Funeral Service was Nov. 24 at Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds St., Danielson, with burial in South Cemetery, Brooklyn, with military honors. Donations: Day Kimball Homecare, PO Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260.
Sr. Simone
LeBlond, DHS
PUTNAM — Sr. Simone LeBlond, 88, a member of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit, died Nov. 23, 2012, at the Holy Spirit Health Care Center where she had been in residence since 2010.
She was born on May 12, 1923, in Trois Pistoles, Qc, Canada, and was the daughter of Pierre and Anna LeBlond. She entered religious life in 1940 in Putnam, and made her religious profession in August of 1945 at Holy Spirit Provincial House there. She was then known as Sr. Thérèse Lucille.
Sr. Simone obtained a bachelor’s in education and was involved in education both as teacher in several schools and later as school principal. In 1987 she went to work for the State of Connecticut in Hartford doing clerical work. In 1992 she became coordinator at St. Clare Convent in Newport, R.I., until her retirement in 1998 in Manchester. From there she moved to Notre Dame Convent in Putnam in 2003, to the Holy Spirit Provincial House in 2006 and to the Health Care Center in 2010. She leaves nieces and nephews as well as grandnieces and grandnephews. The Mass of Christian Burial was Nov. 27 at the Holy Spirit Provincial House in Putnam. Joseph A. Ritchie
PUTNAM — Joseph Andrew Ritchie, 77, of School Street, died Nov. 22, 2012, at Day Kimball Hospital. He was born May 10, 1935, in Putnam, son of the late Dieudonne and Madeline (Desorcey) Ritchie. He worked for several years as a car salesman in Putnam and had previously worked for many years in local textile mills. He enjoyed his cars, scratch tickets and his family. He had made his home on Church Street in Putnam for several years.
He leaves his children: Ann-Marie Ritchie, Paul Ritchie, Darlene Martin, Deborah Mullen, Ann Marie Swinger, Carol Rose, Sue-Ann Harrington, Carol Jean Harrington, Victoria Harrington, Frankie Sherman; his sisters: Viola Doris Atsales of Brooklyn, Doris Hands of Ashford; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandsons; his former wife Janet Ritchie. He was predeceased by his wife Martha Ann (Heath) Ritchie; his siblings including Norman; Loretta; Violet and Rita.
The funeral was private with burial in St. Mary Cemetery in Putnam. Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam.
Raymond Busha
WEBSTER — Raymond J. Busha, 69, died Nov. 14, 2012, at St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester.
He was born in Webster, son of the late Ernest and Elizabeth (Carl) Busha and lived here all his life. He was a dock supervisor at Sacrete Cement in Oxford, Mass. He was a member of the Boosters AC and of the Webster Fish and Game Club.
He leaves his wife, Barbara (Bonnette) Busha of Webster; two sons, Neal Busha of Thompson and Roger Busha of Webster; a sister, Patricia Riccardo of Webster; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
