Marie Mayo Ramsdell
PUTNAM — Marie (Mayo) Ramsdell, 87, of Putnam, died Sept. 30, 2021. Born in 1934, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Louise (Austin) Mayo and lived in Pomfret for most of her life.
Marie graduated from Putnam High School in 1952 and married Joseph P. Ramsdell Sr. in 1956. He died in 1994.
Marie retired from the Rectory School in Pomfret after 20 years and later owned and operated Marie’s Catering in Alma, Ga. Mrs. Ramsdell enjoyed cooking, sewing, building puzzles, and doing crafts.
She leaves sons, Joseph P. Ramsdell Jr. of Carson, Miss., Carl Ramsdell of Westbrook and Stewart Ramsdell of Nicholls, Ga.; daughters, Rebecca Wilson of Templeton, Calif., and Donna Miller of Alma; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 sister; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Ramsdell Sr.; children, Scott Ramsdell, Lisa Ramsdell, and David Ramsdell; and nine brothers; and six sisters.
The Funeral Service was Oct. 8 at Gilman Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Church St., Putnam, with burial in The Pomfret South Cemetery, 214 Pomfret St., Pomfret Center.
