POMFRET --- The First Congregational Church of Pomfret is going up.
After the foundations were finished the walls soared last week.
By last month, the following were finished:
--- The masonry elevator shaft was completed.
--- The structural support walls in the basement were built
--- The footings and walls for exterior stairs, porch and ramps were completed
--- The septic and grease trap tanks were installed and waste line connected
--- And the steel floor trusses were delivered.
Pomfret Congregational was founded, or “gathered” on Oct. 28, 1715. In 1832 it moved into the building in Pomfret Center that its members and neighbors knew and loved.
