Arc gets grant
Thanks to a grant received from Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation, Inc., The Arc Quinebaug Valley will be able to add these funds to grant funding already received for the purchase of outdoor musical instruments for The Arc’s Sensory Garden Project. The sensory garden will benefit individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Grant funds in the amount of $1,000 were provided by Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation, Inc. to The Arc Quinebaug Valley on Nov. 13.
“We are beyond grateful to have received this grant. These funds will help with the costs associated with making our dream of a sensory garden a reality.” said Susan M. Desrosiers, executive director of The Arc Quinebaug Valley.
The sensory garden will be designed with the purpose of stimulating the senses of individuals with disabilities, which will help each person acquire essential life skills at their own peaceful pace.
“Jewett City Savings Bank has continued to make a difference at The Arc Quinebaug Valley and we are truly grateful to have their support.  With the help of community businesses such as this, we are hoping to have the sensory garden completed in 2018.” said Desrosiers.
