PUTNAM — The Putnam Business Association (PBA) is joining with the Greater Putnam Interfaith Council (GPIC) to clean-up the River Trail and downtown areas, as well as plant trees in Rotary Park, and sow milkweed seeds along the river bank in hopes of attracting butterflies and bees.
Putnam’s Earth Day commemoration will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Rotary Park.
From 8:30 to 9 a.m. there will be “Gather for Assignments;” 9 to 11 a.m. Clean-Up/Sow Milkweed Seeds and from 11 a.m. to noon, Lunch. Rain date is May 4.
The event will raise awareness and clean-up plastic and other debris in our parks and riverway, and to protect endangered species such as monarch butterflies and bees. The PBA will provide snacks and serve lunch. The participants can form teams to try to win the Best-Clean-up-Team award.
