Putnam Science Academy’s season may have come to an abrupt end last season but there is plenty of optimism going into next season with a pair of third-year Mustangs. ESPN’S Paul Biancardi and Adam Finkelstein released their rankings for the class of 2020. Players from around the country, from 1 to 100. Putnam Science has two currently ranked with guard Demarr Langford Jr. (81) and guard Hassan Diarra (69) making the list.
Langford and Diarra were a part of the 2018 National Prep Championship team at PSA, then were major factors on last year’s 38-2 team. The team lost to Scotland Campus Sports in the Final Four.
The pair both earned “4 stars” and are ranked #2 and #3 in the state of Connecticut just behind Waterbury’s Nate Tabor whose ranked 63rd nationally.
The two are also capitalizing on the 2019 campaign by making headlines in the AAU Circuit with Diarra lacing em’ up for the PSA Cardinals (NY) and Langford running with Rivals Nation (MA). Hassan helped the Cardinals to a 3-1 start to their AAU season after scoring 17 points to go along with 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Diarra is currently 3rd on the team in scoring with 13.3 points per game.
Langford has turned heads as Rivals is off to a 5-1 start afterfhe scored 16 points and 7 rebounds in his last time out. Langford plays on the Elite team for Rivals Nation along with Putnam Science Academy teammate Marty Silvera. With the summer season getting underway and the AAU season buzzing until mid-June, expect Diarra and Langford rankings to rise throughout the summer.
