PUTNAM — An 18-year-old man suffering life-threatening injuries was taken to UMass Memorial Hospital via helicopter after a roll-over accident on Grove Street Nov. 28, according to Putnam Police.
The 911 call came in about 4 a.m. and Putnam Police and Putnam EMS responded.
Police said there were two 18-year-old males in the car. The second man suffered possible minor injuries and refused EMS transport.
Police said preliminary investigation shows the car, a Volkswagen Jetta, was traveling southbound on Grove St. when the driver lost control of the car, causing it to cross the centerline and strike an embankment off the shoulder of the northbound travel lane. The car then left the roadway rolled onto the front lawn/display area of Parker Memorial & Stone.
The Connecticut State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad (CARS Unit) was asked to help with the investigation. The Putnam Fire Department helped with road closures. Grove St. was closed until approximately 8 a.m.
