NOTICE OF SPECIAL
TOWN MEETING
DECEMBER 2, 2013
The Electors and Citizens qualified to vote in Town Meeting of the Town of Putnam, Connecticut, are hereby notified and warned that the Special Meeting of said Town will be held in the Putnam Middle School Auditorium at 35 Wicker Street/Israel Putnam Way, Putnam, Connecticut, on the second day of December, 2013 at 7:30 o’clock in the evening for the following purposes:
1. To choose a moderator for said meeting.
2. To determine the wishes of those present and eligible to vote at Town Meeting of the Town of Putnam on the following proposed resolution:
RESOLVED, by the Town Meeting of the Town of Putnam, that the Board of Selectmen is authorized to purchase for $300,000.00 from the B’nai Shalom Synagogue a certain tract or parcel of land known as 83 Church Street. Said purchase to be funded by internal borrowing from the Town’s Ash Landfill account which loan shall be on such terms as the Board of Selectmen and Treasurer shall approve and for a term no greater than three years. Said premises consists of 1.2 acres be the same more or less, a copy of the proposed description and map are on file in the Office of the Mayor and available for public inspection during normal business hours.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 77 OF THE CONNECTICUT GENERAL STATUTES, THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN HAS ON ITS OWN INITIATIVE SET ITEM TWO REGARDING THE $300,000.00 APPROPRIATION TO PURCHASE THE PROPERTY KNOWN AS 83 CHURCH STREET FOR SUBMISSION TO THE VOTERS IN A MANNER PROVIDED BY STATE STATUTE. ACTION AT THE TOWN MEETING ON ITEM TWO WILL BE LIMITED TO REASONABLE DISCUSSION. THOSE WISHING TO APPROVE ITEM TWO SHALL VOTE YES ON THE MACHINE VOTE, THOSE OPPOSED, NO. SAID VOTE WILL BE HELD DECEMBER 17, 2013, AT THE NORMAL POLLING PLACES BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 12:00 NOON AND 8:00 P.M.
