Marianapolis Prep School in Thompson Nov. 20 announced that postgraduate women’s basketball player Nicole Viselli has signed a National Letter of Intent to play at Post University in Waterbury next season. Viselli’s signing is the second in less than two weeks at Marianapolis. Golden Knight baseball player Devin Springfield last week indicated he would be attending Franklin Pierce University in 2014.
Viselli came to Marianapolis by way of Pentucket Regional High School in West Newbury, Mass., where she starred for the Sachems who were State Champions in 2012. A point guard and shooting guard, Viselli averaged 11 points and 6.5 rebounds per game last season, while also recording 3 assists and 2.9 steals per contest. While in high school her team boasted a record of 93 wins and only 12 losses.
“I chose Post University because the school is exactly what I’m looking for. They have my intended major which is special education. I am really excited to play for a program that is going to be very successful; they are already on their way. They made me feel like I am part of the team already,” said Viselli.
In coming to Marianapolis, where she will play for Lady Knights basketball coach Lauren Moore, Viscelli has the credentials to back her selection.
Viselli is the daughter of Donald and Lynn Viscelli of West Newbury. Her sister Ashley is a senior at St. Anselm’s College in Manchester, N.H., where she is a member of the Hawks women’s basketball team.
The Post University Eagles coached by Stephen Schuler play in the NCAA Division II and are a member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. Sophomore Hailey Griffin, a former Plainfield Panther, is currently a member of the Eagles women’s hoop squad.
