POMFRET — For two periods the NFA-St. Bernard-Bacon co-op squad took it to Woodstock Academy Jan. 30 playing a physical, up tempo game that put the Centaurs back on their heels. Missing their starting Goalie Baylee Johns and sophomore Forward Jordan Lamothe’ the boys looked lost yielding two NFA goals through two periods.
The third period looked to be more of the same until sophomore Zach Burnham took a rebound pass from Nathan DeLuca and buried it into the net to cut the lead to 2-1. A few minutes later WA sophomore defenseman Douglas Gerrity lifted a slap shot passed the goalie to tie the game at 2. The momentum now shifted to the Centaurs who finally got it together with Nathan DeLuca scoring on a pass from Will Smith to take their first lead of the game 3-2. Later it was DeLuca putting the game on ice scoring his second goal of the game to end it at 4-2. Also credited with assists were Tyler Huhtanen and Will Liscomb.
Sophomore Tucker Johns had a stellar night between the pipes stopping 38 shots on goal. WA improves to 4 and 5 on the season. The Centaurs return action at noon Feb. 8 at Jahn Rink for a tilt against Taconic, Mass.
