$450,000
WOODSTOCK — The town was recently notified that a $450,000 state grant for improvements to the transfer station was approved.
State Representative Mike Alberts (R-50th) said the Small Town Economic Assistance Funds grant is for finishing a second and third phase of the transfer station renovation project. The Woodstock Transfer Station is used by Woodstock residents, property owners and businesses to properly dispose of their solid waste, brush, used batteries, waste oil, and other recyclables. Due to local budget restraints, Rep. Alberts strongly advocated for state assistance to finish Phase II and III of the Woodstock Transfer Station Renovation Project, which aims to improve the quality and efficiency of the waste facility.
“These funds will transform an outdated piece of Woodstock’s infrastructure into an efficient and environmentally sound facility, preventing possible environmental issues and initiating immediate cost savings for our community,” said Alberts. “Without this funding, these important modifications could not be possible. I’d like to thank Governor Malloy for approving our request for state aid.”
State Representative Mike Alberts represents the 50th General Assembly district towns of Brooklyn, Eastford, Pomfret, Union and Woodstock.
