Chicken Program

POMFRET --- The Pomfret Agricultural Commission will be providing a workshop on raising chickens at 6:30 p.m. at 42 Cheney Road. Will be held outdoors at family farm site. Free. All welcome. RSVP .  860-922-4400.

 

Fun Run

W. THOMPSON --- The West Thompson Dam Fun Run has started and will run through Sept. 17 on Wednesdays starting at the West Thompson Dam entrance on Ravenelle Road. Starts at 6:15 p.m. Distance is 3.1 and 1.44 miles. Fun Run or walk is free and open to all. For info: mayer.robert @sbcglobal.net.

Beekeeper

PUTNAM --- Jordan Stern, a Board Member of the Eastern Beekeepers Association, will present "The Hows & Whys of Bees" at the Earth Day is Every Day celebration at 6:30 p.m. at the Putnam Science Academy. The presentation will be followed by 3 short videos on growing your own food & composting. The celebration is sponsored by the Greater Putnam Interfaith Council & is free & open to the public. However, monetary & food donations will be accepted.

Organ Recital

PUTNAM --- The Congregational Church of Putnam will present an organ recital featuring Elder Vladimir Orlov, of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Ashford, at 7 p.m.  Reception follows. Freewill offering.

 

Concert

THOMPSON --- Thompson Recreation will present a free concert featuring Woodstock Cornet Band at 7 p.m. on the Thompson Common on corner of routes 193 and 200. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. 923-9440.

E. WOODSTOCK --- The 58th annual Jamboree will be held July 4 at the East Woodstock Common from 11 a.m  to 5 p.m.  Attic Treasures, Books, & Silent Auction will open at 9. Art Exhibit

POMFRET --- The Connecticut Audubon Society Center at Pomfret will present "Air and Water, Space and Time," a drawings exhibit by George Jacobi, through Aug. 15 at the Grassland Bird Conservation Center on Day Road. POMFRET --- The Pomfret Senior Center on Rt. 44 will present TEEG Learn and Lunch from noon to 2 p.m. July 8 with a presentation on “Tablets, Smartphones and iPhones”.  At 12:30 p.m. July 9 the movie “Twelve Years a Slave” will be shown. Surrounding town seniors welcome.

PUTNAM --- An Invitation to Artique fund-raiser will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at Artique in downtown Putnam. Sponsored by Pace for a Purpose, it's a fund-raiser for DKH Deary Memorial Cancer Fund. 933-2221.

 

Concert, Frog Jump

EASTFORD --- The Congregational Church of Eastford on Church Road will present its annual summer band concert with the East Woodstock cornet Band at 6 p.m. Registration for the frog jumping is at 5:30 and events begin at 6. If you don’t have a frog, loaners will be available. Everything is free. All welcome.

POMFRET --- The Town of Pomfret's bulky waste, scrap metal, paper recycling and tires recycling will be held at 9 a.m. at the Pomfret Murdock Property on Rt. 101. Pomfret residents only.
