Fun Run
W. THOMPSON --- The West Thompson Dam Fun Run has started and will run through Sept. 17 on Wednesdays starting at the West Thompson Dam entrance on Ravenelle Road. Starts at 6:15 p.m. Distance is 3.1 and 1.44 miles. Fun Run or walk is free and open to all. For info: mayer.robert @sbcglobal.net. 
 
Art Exhibit
POMFRET --- The Connecticut Audubon Society Center at Pomfret will present "Colors of Nature," a mixed media exhibit by the Northeast Connecticut Art Guild, through Sept. 30 at the Grassland Bird Conservation Center on Day Road. Portion of the sales benefits the center. 928-4948. 
 
Art Exhibit
DANIELSON --- An exhibit featuring the talent and creativity of 17 Quinebaug Valley Community College’s fine arts graduates will be on display in the college’s Spirol Gallery through Sept. 25. An artists’ reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept.. 10. The event is free and open to the public. Normal gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday – Friday.

‘Gift’ Fund-raiser
ASHFORD --- The Friends of Babcock Library will be holding their annual wine, spirit, and beer tasting event, “Gifts of the Vine,” from 3 to 5 p.m. at ESCU’s Church Farm Center for Arts and Sciences on Rt. 89.  Tickets, $25 per person (21 and older only), available Babcock Library or Church Farm the day of the event.
 
Swedish Meatballs
N. GROSVENORDALE --- The Emanuel Lutheran Church on Main Street will present its Authentic Swedish Meatball Supper, served family style, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the church. $10 for adults; $5 for kids under 12. Takeout available.
 
Fund-raiser Exhibit
POMFRET --- Celebrations Shoppes will present an art exhibit and fund-raiser to support the building of the new Regional Community YMCA through Oct. 25. Opening reception will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 13. Twenty percent of art sales from this special exhibition will be donated to the new RYMCA. 
 
Popcorn Fund-raiser
PUTNAM --- The Putnam Boy Scout Troop 25 will hold a Popcorn Fund-raiser from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Tractor Supply on Rt. 44. Fund-raiser helps defray the costs of uniforms, handbooks, summer camp and other activities for the Scouts. Delivery available. 339-927-4413.

PUTNAM --- Day Kimball Healthcare will host Cancer Survivorship Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Day Kimball Hospital, Fields Conference Rooms. There will be activities, informational booths, screenings and more. This event is open to anyone who currently has cancer or who is a survivor of cancer, and their families. Civil War History
WOODSTOCK --- Roseland Cottage will welcome the 27th Connecticut volunteers and the Northeast Topographical Engineers for a Civil War Living History from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 20 and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 21.
