DANIELSON — The 2014 Holiday Winter Boot Drive to benefit needy children throughout northeast Connecticut is underway. Once again, the effort is co-sponsored by the Retired Senior Volunteer Program of Thames Valley Council for Community Action in Danielson and the Killingly Parks & Recreation Department in partnership with TEEG.
“Thanks to so many generous donors, more than 350 pairs of boots were provided to local school children at holiday time last year,” said Helen Granskog, RSVP manager at TVCCA. “The need this year is even more critical as we work with school social workers to identify children in need. We hope our communities will recognize this serious need and step up to support the kids.”
Donors have the option of shopping for warm winter boots (size and gender will be available from RSVP) or making a donation to TVCCA-RSVP. Monetary donations fit all ages and sizes, Granskog pointed out.
This is the 19th year RSVP has led the boot drive.
