Northeast Communities Against Substance Abuse (NECASA) is seeking youth groups to train in over the counter medication safety. The training which lasts approximately 1 ½ hours is based on a curriculum which was developed by Scholastic, Inc. and the National Council on Patient Information and Education. The primarily focus of the training is how to read a “drug facts” label and understand the proper uses of the medications and also how to use proper dosing of the medications to ensure safety. The curriculum does make clear that youth should always have an adult provide the medication and the proper dosages to them.
NECASA will provide the training at no cost to groups with a target age of 10-14 years old and may be able to provide a small stipend to the organizations to cover costs of snacks and location.
