CANTERBURY --- The Canterbury Historical society will present Bill Reid, chief ranger with TLGV, with “Notable and Notorious: Curious and Infamous Characters from The Last Green Valley,” following the 7 p.m. business session at the Canterbury Town Hall Community Room. Church Event

PUTNAM --- The Congregational Church of Putnam will present "Fire and Ice" events from noon to 8 p.m. at the church, downtown. There will be activities on the lawn including torches, free hot chocolate and a warming by the fire pits.

 

Chocolate Sale

BROOKLYN --- The Sweetheart Chocolate Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Federated Church  19 Hartford Rd.  Thrift Shop reopens at 10.

 

Gardening Workshop

Tag, Bake Sale

ABINGTON --- The Abington Congregational Church on Rt. 97 will hold a tag and bake sale from 9 a.m. to noon. Snow date Feb. 21.

 

Museum Tour

WILLIMANTIC --- TLGV Member Program will present a tour of Windham Textile and History Museum with Education Consultant Beverly York from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the  museum on Main Street. $4 per person, payable at the door and is the group admission rate for the museum.

Fund-raiser Fishing Derby

Flower Show

HARTFORD --- The Connecticut Flower and Garden Show will be held Feb. 19 through 22 at the Connecticut Convention Center. The UConn Soil Testing Lab will offer free soil pH testing. Bring in a half cup of soil for testing. 860-486-6740.

 

Diaper Fund-raiser

PUTNAM --- The Interfaith Human Services of Putnam - Diaper Bank of NECT will host its Third Annual Celebrity Bartenders Night fund-raiser from 5 to 9 p.m. at Winners at J.D. Coopers on Park Road. Admission is free but donations of diapers and wipes or monetary contributions are appreciated.
