WILLIMANTIC — A group of Eastern Connecticut State University students was recently inducted into Alpha Mu Alpha, Eastern’s chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the national honor society for the study of history. Sadie Hewes ’17 of Pomfret Center was one of the inductees. Hewes’s major is History and Communication.
 
Concert
WILLIMANTIC — Earlier in the spring semester, Eastern Connecticut State University’s Music Program presented the first concert held in Eastern’s new state-of-the-art Fine Arts Instructional Center (FAIC). Eastern’s Concert Band event, comprised of Eastern students, faculty, staff, alumni, local music educators and talented musicians from the local community, combined nearly every vocal and instrumental ensemble, making it a truly collaborative performance.
Among the student performers: Sarah Froehlich ’16 of Woodstock, elementary education and Spanish major; Lee Gendron ’18 of Quinebaug, majors in Exploratory Prof. Studies; Mackenzie Muscara ’18 of Dayville, majors in Music.
Singers included:  Nicolas Guastini ’19 of Danielson, English major; Halie Poirier ’17 of Putnam, music and new media studies; Jolene Potter ’18 of Dayville, psychology major.
 
High honors
POMFRET — The following local students at Pomfret School earned high honors: Rebecca Bullied of Pomfret Center, class of 2017; Davis Chase of Pomfret, class of 2017; Madison Fisher of Pomfret, class of 2019; Sydney Fisher of Pomfret, class of 2017; Brandon Griffin of Pomfret, class of 2019; Kevin Griffin of Pomfret, class of 2017; John Mooney of Pomfret Center, class of 2019; Annie Vance of Danielson, class of 2016.
 
Inducted
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Lyndsey St. Jean of Pascoag, was welcomed into Pi Mu Epsilon National Honor Society at the Western New England University chapter’s annual induction ceremony. Pi Mu Epsilon is the nation’s most prestigious mathematics honor society.
