The Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CTCPA) presented Quinebaug Valley Community College Professor of Business & Accounting Jennifer M. Oliver, CPA, with an “Educator of Excellence” award in the Two-Year College category.
Oliver holds a bachelor’s in accounting from UConn. She lives in the greater Willimantic area.
The CTCPA created the “Educator of Excellence” awards, known as “The Eddys,” to recognize Connecticut accounting professors who have had a positive influence on the lives and careers of their students by excelling in teaching and mentoring, inspiring students to reach beyond the ordinary, and going the extra mile for their students.  Students nominate outstanding professors, and winners are selected by a panel representing a cross-section of the CTCPA membership and the Connecticut business community via blind review. Awards are presented in two categories: Four-Year College/University Professor and Two-Year College/University Professor.
The following is an excerpt from Professor Oliver’s winning nomination:
“She is kind, thorough, and very intelligent. She’s able to give insight using her many experiences, and makes the work feel fun with her upbeat attitude, keeping her students engaged. She works diligently to ensure that her students understand the material properly, and that they enjoy it. If she has taught me anything, it’s that accounting can be fun if you have the right attitude toward it! I know that if I continue with her influence, I will lead a long, happy career in accounting. I can’t imagine that anyone else would deserve this award more than her and I can’t praise her enough.”
