The start of school at Putnam Science Academy is approximately one month away and the signing of guard Stephan Jean of New York indicates that coach Tom Espinosa’s recruiting effort is coming to a close.
Jean, who hails from Harriman, N.Y., played at Burke Catholic High School for coach Doug Janeczko for the last three years. He’ll enter Putnam Science Academy as a repeat junior. The 6-foot, 3-inch guard brings height to the backcourt for the Mustangs.
“Stephan is an outstanding young man who wants to challenge himself in the classroom and on the basketball court. By coming to PSA he’s looking to challenge himself to reach his full potential. If he works hard in practice he should notice considerable growth in his game,” said coach Espinosa.
In addition to his strength on offense, Jean is noted as a young man who also enjoys playing defense where he is a stalwart.
“My goal in coming to Putnam Science Academy is to become the best person I can be. In basketball I hope to reach my full potential and make everyone proud of me on and off the court.” said Jean.
