Macalister
Putnam teacher
of year
PUTNAM — Lynn Macalister was named as Putnam’s 2017 Teacher of the Year.
She has a bachelor’s degree from Rhode Island College in elementary education where she graduated Magna cum Laude. She also has a master’s of education in language Arts from Rhode Island College graduating Summa cum Laude.
She is a 29-year veteran of the Putnam school system having taught kindergarten through third grade. Currently she is a second grade teacher at Putnam Elementary School.
She was recently notified by the Connecticut State Department of Education that she is a semifinalist for this year’s Connecticut State Teacher of the Year. She will travel to Hartford to be interviewed by the State’s Teacher of the Year Selection Committee.
School Superintendent William Hull said, “Anyone who has been in Lynn’s classroom knows how deserving she is of these awards. She is a master teacher who is magical with students. She represents all the best of the Putnam school system. This is a well- deserved honor for her. I could not be happier for her.”
