WOODSTOCK — Gymnast Paige Stuyniski of Brooklyn, a Woodstock Academy senior, was 2015-2016 Female Player of the Year for the state of Connecticut by the Connecticut High School Coaches Association.
The daughter of Dave and Eileen Stuyniski, Paige Stuyniski is an Honor Roll student and an Advanced College Prep student. She has earned several awards and accolades including the Jonathan Bell Memorial Award for Character.
“We are so proud of Paige and her accomplishments,” said Christopher Sandford, headmaster. “She has worked very hard both as an athlete and as a student and I’m sure she will be successful after graduation in whichever path she chooses.”
This past season, Stuyniski led the Centaurs to their fifth-straight State Open title. In the process, Stuyniski captured her third-straight State Open All-Around championship taking first in the bars and the beam. In addition, she scored a perfect 10 for her beam routine at the State Championship – believed to be the first perfect score in state history.
“Paige is an amazing athlete and an even better person,” said Aaron Patterson, director of Athletics. “Graceful, poised, confident, and strong describes her both in gymnastics and as a person. I cannot think of anyone better to be chosen for this award.”
Stuyniski has also been named Player of the Year for girl’s gymnastics by the Coaches Association for the last three years.
