Fun Run
THOMPSON --- The West Thompson Dam Fun Run is  on Wednesdays through Sept. 13. It will be held at the West Thompson Dam Entrance on Ravenelle Road. Start time is 6:15 p.m. Distance is 3.1 and 1.44 miles. The Fun Run or walk is free and is open to everyone. Free T-shirt once three events are completed. Details: mayer.robert @sbcglobal.net. This year’s events will be held in memory of Ryan French who died in January.

POMFRET --- The  Northeastern CT Art Guild is having an Art show at the Vanilla Bean through May 29.  Seventeen artists have works in oils, watercolors, pastels, pen and ink, collage, and in wood.

Parade
EASTFORD --- The Eastford Memorial Day Parade starts at 9:30 a.m. at the elementary school. A Memorial Day Ceremony will be  held at the Veteran's Memorial immediately following the parade. Services and military salutes will take place at the General Lyon Cemetery at 8:30 a.m. and at the Grove Cemetery at 9 a.m.  All welcome

POMFRET --- The Town of Pomfret will be holding its annual Memorial Day Parade on starting at 10 a.m. This year's parade kicks off at the Abington Congregational Church, proceeding north down Rt. 97/Hampton Road, turning west onto Rt. 44 and ending at the Abington Cemetery where a wreath will be placed and observances take place.

PUTNAM --- The Town’s Memorial Day observance will take place starting at 10 a.m. from Grove Street and will conclude with a memorial program at St. Mary Church grounds.  In case of inclement weather, notification will be on WINY 1350 AM the morning of the parade.

Silver Star
DANIELSON --- Local veteran, Edward Leavitt, will be awarded a Silver Star by Congressman Joe Courtney at the Veterans Coffeehouse about 9 a.m. at the Killingly Community Center on Broad Street. Light refreshments will be served and veterans and the general public are encouraged to attend and help recognize this hero for this prestigious award.
 
Exercise Group

HAMPTON --- The Quiet Corner Chapter of the New England Mountain Bike Association is holding its annual Goodwin Fun Ride starting at 9 a.m. at Goodwin State Forest and offers three loops with a range of terrain and miles. A guided Beginner/Mellow Group Ride of 7 miles starts at 10. All are welcome to this event and following potluck cookout at 12:30 p.m. $10 for NEMBA; $15 for not-yet-members and free for ages 15 and under.
