John Barylski,
Vietnam war vet
PUTNAM —  John Barylski, 74, of Van Den Noort St., died June 18, 2017, at home. He was the husband of Linda (Burdick) Barylski for 50 years.  Born in 1942 in Webster, he was the son of the late John and Cecilia (Krukowski) Barylski.
Mr. Barylski worked as a shipping manager for Pallflex for 35 years.  He was a member of the Putnam Little League, the Boy Scouts Troop 25 and volunteered his time as an Assistant Scout Master for 35 years.  He was an avid pilot and was a member of the Aircraft Owners Pilots Association. 
John was a veteran of the Vietnam war serving with the U.S. Air Force being honorably discharged on Dec. 22, 1964.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his sons, Brian Barylski (Karen) of Putnam, Scott Barylski of Putnam, and Shawn Barylski of Putnam; his sister, Donna Stilwell (Mike) of Bow, N.H.; grandchildren, Andy Barylski, Mitchel Barylski, Samantha Barylski, and Nathan Barylski.

John ‘Jack’ King,
Korean war vet
FT. MYERS, Fla. — John R. “Jack” King, 84, of Ft. Myers died unexpectedly June 8, 2017, at Gulf Coast Medical Center following recent medical challenges. 
Jack was born May 27, 1933, in Warwick, R.I., son of James and Marjorie King.  He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict from Nov. 16, 1951, to Nov. 22, 1955, when he was honorably discharged.  He attained the rank of Airman 2nd Class.  He earned the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal,
He spent his career as a hospital maintenance engineer at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam.  
Jack was a member and regularly attended services and Sunday school at MacGregor Baptist Church in Ft. Myers.  
He leaves his companion and best friend for 13-plus years, Mary Celmo; his daughter Terri Jo Carlson; his niece Kathy King.
A memorial service and celebration of Jack’s life was June 12 in the chapel at Ft. Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with military honors. Donations: Day Kimball Hospital, 320 Pomfret St., Putnam, CT 06260.
 
Theresa Desjardin
DANIELSON —  Theresa (Desautels) Desjardin, 95, of  West Oak St., died, June 24, 2017, in Westview Healthcare Center. She was the wife of the late Raymond Desjardin. Born in 1922 in Putnam, she was the daughter of the late Phillburn and Aurore (Lagrandeur) Desautels.
Mrs. Desjardin worked for Putnam Mills as a Cloth Room inspector. During the 1960s she was employed at the Day Kimball Hospital as a nurse’s aide. She then became the secretary and bookkeeper for her husband’s business, Danielson Sanitation. 
Mrs. Desjardin was a devout Catholic, belonging to St. James Church in Danielson. Theresa will be remembered as a cherished mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who had an infectious laugh.
She leaves a daughter Elaine Garrity (Patrick) of Danielson; two grandchildren Shawn and Tracy Garrity; two great grandchildren Draven and Marleigh Garrity; two sisters-in-law Aurore Desjardin of Danielson and Yvette Koennicke of Norwich. She was predeceased by her son Raymond J. Desjardin Jr.; three brothers Edward, Leo, and Alfred Desautels; and two sisters Doris Guevremont and Delores Lussier.

Gertrude Etheridge
ONECO — Gertrude Eva Etheridge, 103, of Oneco, died June 21, 2017, at Colonial Health & Rehabilitation Center in Plainfield. She was the wife of the late George Ellery Etheridge. They married in 1940. He died Dec. 27, 1982.  
She was born in N. Scituate, R.I., April 3, 1914, daughter of Frederick D. and Virgie (Burlingame) Tinkham. She made her home in Oneco most of her life. Gertrude enjoyed cooking and gardening. Throughout the years she was recognized for her Piccalilli relishes and her apple pies. She also liked going to yard sales.   
She leave her two daughters-in-law, Patricia Etheridge and Diane Etheridge; grandsons Fred Etheridge (Tamny), Jeffrey Etheridge (Cara), Brian Frenette, Jamie Frenette, John Zaccaria (Maria); great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her two sons Bruce Etheridge and Frederick Etheridge. She was also predeceased by her siblings Fred Tinkham, Emily Bourassa, Margarite Durocher, Virgina Turnquist, and Genevieve Bennett.
A private Graveside Service was held in Grove Street Cemetery, Putnam. Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam.
 
Lorraine F. Latour
WOODSTOCK — Lorraine F. (Laflamme) Latour, 85, of Tripp Rd., died June 24, 2017, at Day Kimball Hospital. Born in 1931 at home in N. Grosvenordale, she was the daughter of the late Lionel and Pauline (Sugalski) Laflamme.
Mom worked for many years at various manufacturing facilities ending up at the Bates Shoe Factory until its closing in 1988. Following that, she received her GED and went to work for Masonicare as a homemaker, until her retirement.
Mom enjoyed playing Bingo, card games, debating politics, and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. 
Throughout her life, Mom took care of her siblings, various friends and especially her dear friend Doris, who died at the age 101.
After experiencing several medical setbacks, she was confined to a bed for the last 2 ½ years of her life.  She will be remembered as a good lady.
She leaves two sons Alan Peckham and Rick Latour, both of Woodstock; five daughters Linda “Lynn” Buder (Karl) of Martha’s Vineyard, Debra Hebert (Bertrand) of Dayville, Cathy Peckham of Woodstock, Donna Watkins (James) of Spring Hill, Fla., and Brenda Matusik (John) of Umatilla, Fla.; seven grandchildren: Alexander Buder (Kelsey), Hans Buder (Meghan), Bert Hebert (Catherine), Michael “Little Chickadee” Hebert, Jason Matusik, Josh Matusik, and Christine Buczkowski; five great-grandchildren Lucas, Zachary, and Matthew Hebert, Elliott Buder, and Hannah-Rose Buczkowski. She was predeceased by her siblings Thomas Laflamme, Richard Laflamme, and Priscilla Laflamme.

William W. McCrillis
WETHERSFIELD — William W. McCrillis,, 49, of Wolcott Hill Rd., formerly of Putnam and N. Grosvenordale, died June 25, 2017, at Hartford Hospital. Born in 1967 in Putnam, he was the son of Roberta (Rumrill) Clapper and her husband Kenneth of Tavares, Fla., and the late Wendell W. McCrillis.
Mr. McCrillis worked as a construction worker. In his earlier years he worked at several Putnam local restaurants. William enjoyed working with hands and doing crafts.
He leaves his mother and stepfather; two brothers James McCrillis and Dennis Leighton of Putnam; and a sister Lisa Tetreault of Tavares. He was predeceased by a sister Becky McCrillis.

Sally A. McGuire
MOOSUP — Sally (LaRocque) McGuire, 75, of Sunny Acres, died unexpectedly June 21, 2017, in Plainfield Emergency Care Center.  Born in 1942 in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late Wallace and Mabel (Sameimaw) LaRocque.
Mrs. McGuire worked as a greeter for Staples.  She was an avid traveling bingo player who enjoyed reading and completing crossword puzzles.  
She leaves her sons, James Fontaine (Donna) of Thompson, John Fontaine (Tina Marie) of Danielson; her daughters, Sandra Martin (Paul) of E. Haven, and Bette Sielvogel (Robert) of Canterbury; her brothers, Neil LaRocque of N. Oxford, Mass., and David LaRocque of Cape Cod; grandchildren, Tanya, Jessica, Christopher, Jesse, Pamela, Raymond, David, Jennifer, Samantha, Kimberly, Stephanie, Tami, Sara, Andrew and Bobby; and her great-grandchildren, Aiden, Zaria, Serenity, Anthony, Emma, Tristan, Michael, and Selena. 
The Funeral was June 27 in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam.
 
James W. Beauregard,
Vietnam vet
THOMPSON — James W. Beauregard, 74, died June 18, 2017, at the W. Roxbury Veterans Hospital, Boston.
He was born in Worcester son of the late Wilfred and Barbara (Cutting) Beauregard and lived in Thompson for the past 24 years, prior to that living in Auburn, Mass.  
He was U.S. Marine Corp. veteran serving two tours in Vietnam.  He also was a drill instructor at Paris Island.  He played hockey at Auburn High and was inducted to the Hall of Fame.  He was known as the “Lamp Lighter.”  He enjoyed yard work and the casino and was an avid hunter and fishermen.  He was in car sales and worked for  Riverside Auto in Auburn and also worked previously at Colonial Autobody for many years.
He leaves his wife of 24 years, Sandra E. (Wagher) Beauregard; two daughters; Shannon Krusas (Keith) and Kelly Dionne, both of Oxford, Mass.; two stepsons; John Leake Jr. of Brimfield, Mass., and Francis Leake of Tempe, Ariz.; two stepdaughters; Lori Freidman (Darren) of Severville, Tenn., and Jennifer Perry of Thompson; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sister Janet Standring (Tom) of Leicester, Mass.

Amedee Burrell Jr.
DAYVILLE — Amedee A. Burrell Jr., 74, died June 21, 2017, at Matulaitis Nursing Home in Putnam.  He was the husband of the late Audrey D. (Bailey) who died in 2013.  He was born in Boston, son of the late Amedee A. Burrell Sr. and Marion M. (Goodwin) Burrell and lived in Dayville for the past 10 years prior to that living in Thompson and Danbury. He was a computer programmer and worked for Computer Corp. of America.  He was an avid fly fishermen and past president of the New England Fly Tyers Association.  He was a member of the BPO Elks Lodge 574 of Putnam.  
He leaves three sons; Mark Burrell (Andrea) of Naugatuck, Jeffrey Burrell (Nina) of Waterbury, and Brian Burrell (Laura) of Delaware; two daughters, Lysa Molnar of Danielson and Lara Burrell of Delaware; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

David Carpenter Sr.,
Marine vet
QUINEBAUG — David A. Carpenter Sr., 74, died June 19, 2017, at Rose Monahan Hospice Home of Worcester. David was born Worcester, son of the late Lester Carpenter and  Ruth (Barrett) Boss.
He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving during peacetime  January 1960 to January 1964  as a corporal. He was employed by Marane Oil Worcester as a diesel  mechanic. He later worked 20 years for the Oxford Public Schools as a janitor .  He lived many years in Oxford and enjoyed Florida in retirement. He loved working on classic cars always having a project car. 
He leaves his wife of 48 years  Karen (Feige) Carpenter; one daughter: Lori Addington (Marc) of Thompson; one son: David A Carpenter Jr. (Paula) of Charlton;  three grandchildren Courtney, Madelyn and Paiyton; four sisters: Beverly Faggianno of Quincy, Mass., Judy O’Reilly of Greenwood, S.C., Bonnie Scott of Oxford, Mass., and Tammy Brown of Worcester; two brothers: Gary Carpenter of Warwick, R.I.,  and Michael Boss of Charlton; three  step-siblings. He was predeceased by his brother, Donald Carpenter and stepfather Ernest Boss.

Ernest Karapanos
WEBSTER — Ernest (Tash) Karapanos, 85, died June 23, 2017.  
He was born in Webster, son of the late Michael and Olympia (Kaleshski) Karapanos and lived here all his life.
He was retired from Pratt Whitney Aircraft/ United Technology for 40-plus years.  
He leaves his wife Zora (Mulovska) Karapanos; a brother Paul Karapanos of Webster. He was predeceased by a brother, James Karapanos.
