PUTNAM — Putnam Science Academy women’s basketball announced the addition of former Woodstock Academy star Ariana Koivisto. The junior wing has decided to transfer to PSA where she will spend her last two years of competing with the lady Mustangs.
During her two years at Woodstock, Koivisto averaged 10 points per game to go along with seven rebounds and five assists. She was also an ECC All-Star during both her freshmen and sophomore years. As a sophomore, she was named to All-Bulletin team and earned the ECC Small-Medium Tournament Most Valuable player.
“I loved my time at Woodstock Academy and will miss playing for coach Fleeton and all of my teammates. With my goal being to play college basketball, I felt going to Putnam Science was the right step for me,” said Ariana Koivisto. “I’m really excited about the new coaching staff and being surrounded by teammates that also aspire to play in college.”
“I’m very excited to add a local player of Ari’s caliber this late,” said Derek Marchione. “She comes highly recommended and I know she’ll be ready for this level after playing this summer with the Connecticut Attack AAU program.”
Marchione went on to also say, “She’s already hearing from a number of Northeast 10 schools, including one of the best programs in the country, Bentley. When you combined her skill level for her size with her work ethic, you know she will thrive in this type of environment.”
