PUTNAM — At the recent staff’s Opening of School Ceremony, the Putnam Board of Education introduced Mrs. Marisa Stankiewicz as Putnam’s Teacher of the Year.
Stankiewicz has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Northeastern University.
She also has earned a master’s in education from the University of New Haven.
She has taught biology at Putnam High School since 2004.
During her tenure at the high school, Stankiewicz has also served as the Science Department chair and a class advisor.
She also served on the school’s NEASC accreditation committee.
Superintendent William Hull said: “Mrs. Stankiewicz is an outstanding teacher! She serves as a wonderful example of the fine instructors we have in the district. Marisa is a strong advocate for all students, not only in her classroom, but in the entire school. She is a wonderful asset for our students and the district. This is a well-deserved and wonderful honor for her.”
